Re: Service pack 3 problem

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

Still have the same problem although the version number of the file is
correct. I have deleted the file from System32 and copied the one in the
service pack area but have 2 issues namely:

1) do not have a folder Windows\system32\dllcache
2) computer could not find the file regsvr32 when i ran it.

Any further advice please?

thanks

Using Windows Explorer, navigate to
WINDOWS\system32
Locate wlanapi.dll
Right click it and choose Properties
Click the Version tab
The Version included with SP3 is 5.1.2600.5512

There's a chance that the file in question has become damaged during the
application of SP3. Suggest you boot to Safe Mode:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315222

When in SM, navigate to
WINDOWS\system32
Delete wlanapi.dll

WINDOWS\system32\dllcache
Delete the backup of wlanapi.dll

Navigate to
WINDOWS\\ServicePackFiles\i386
Locate wlanapi.dll
Copy it to the 2 previous locations you deleted it from:

WINDOWS\system32
WINDOWS\system32\dllcache

*Disconnect* the system from any network or internet connection.

Restart to normal Windows mode.

Go to Start > Run > type in or copy&paste the below into the Open: line
and then click OK or press Enter

regsvr32 wlanapi.dll

*Reconnect* the system to the network or internet connection.

Did that get the file registered ?
