Re: SP3 and Windows Defender


I updated from XP SP2 to SP3 about a week ago. I also run IE7 and AVG 8.0
and Windows Defender.

Were AVG and Defender both disabled before you installed SP3? Did you install SP3 via Windows Update or manually?

Not sure whether this is coincidence but Defender is now doing a daily quick
scan shortly after PC startup. This is not scheduled by me - the schedule
setting is for a once a week quick scan on a Friday evening. PC is also
running slower than before SP£ update. Does SP3 override Defender in some
way?
