Can svchost.exe be a virus? Yes. But not necessarily; it just "can"
be.
I have it only recently running several
instances at once sometimes using 50% of CPU power.
50% isn't "power", it's cpu Time. e.g. half the time it's running that
svchost. Depending on what the computer is doing, and when, and what
background tasks are running and a few other things, this could be
normal. It could be doing anything from background defrags to indexing
to ... all kinds of things and stop the second you do something on the
computer that needs that time.
You could have multiple svchost.exe's running; at the moment, I have
6 of them running.
My CA Vet virus
checker nor spybot S&D report any problem, please assist! Thanks.
YOu're probably OK.
WHY do you ask? Is the system having any problems?
