I use Automatic Update. I was notified about SP3 and installed it without
any problems. My daughter's machine is the same configuration as mine
(except she has not installed IE7 yet) but she hasn't received any notice
about SP3. For what it's worth, the Microsoft Update website "knows" that
she uses Automatic Update. Executing the check for latest updates just
loops. Any comments?

SP3 on office 2000 ... I have tried to do an automatic update of SP3 on my windows 2000, ... about 66% installed it just states "Unsuccessful"... (microsoft.public.officeupdate)
