Greetings Gerry ... Thanks for the suggestions. I will follow though on all
of them. I feel like I am a student back in school again!
What would your reaction be, and anyone else's also, to the idea that was
presented to me today by a neighbor who works as a programmer and IT tech in
a bank. He said that the symptoms sounded familiar and he thought that
perhaps that hard drive was giving me a signal that it is time for it to be
replaced. For those of you with more experience, does this sound like the
last gasp of a dying drive?

Thanks everyone,

Do you need to recover data from the drive. You can put the drive in a
second computer as a slave drive to recover important data. This should
be done first.

Hi ... Thanks very much for the suggestions. The first article I had
already read, but the PC Review article I had not. However, I have
removed all the USB devices, as the article suggested, with the
exeption of my wireless mouse and keyboard. They are from Microsoft
and I didn't think that they might be part of the problem. I can
round up a wired mouse and keyboard and see if that makes any
difference.
Thanks for your help.
I googled bad pool caller and found a number results that may help.

Greetings Everyone ... I am writing to ask for help and suggestions
on how I can get my Dell 8250 to boot up again. I have been
getting the 0x000000c2 BAD_POOL_CALLER no matter what I do. Last
night I even tried to boot up from the Xp installation disc. I used
the (R) repair, drivers loaded, Windows began and ...bang ... the
BAD_POOL_CALLER message again. I have run out of ideas on how to
get past it. So, I am turning to you all for ideas. I would be
happy to recieve a recommendation as to better places to look for
help also.
I appreciate your help ...
Thanks everyone,
John
