Re: dwwin.exe fails to initialize due to shutdown

Tech Tip: Click here to run a free scan for Windows Errors and optimize PC performance

Hi Robert & Allen,

Yes, I have a Macbook Pro and I'm running Windows XP Professional on it. I
am not going through Parallels, I am directly on Windows OS. So parallels
isn't really the issue, except when I was trying to get my drivers to be able
to use my internal camera yesterday yet, because of all these issues,
couldn't download the drivers from the Leopard OS disk that I need. Hence
the error reports regarding parallels.

As for your suggestion Robert, I think I'll give that a try, but I'd really
like to know what program is crashing and I'm trying to see if I can get to
the root of the issue, and not cover up dwwin issue with a "fix" to not see
it, if you know what I mean.

Any suggestions on how I can figure out what program(s) may be crashing,
would be of great help. I know that I have issues with Microsoft Outlook and
IE 7, as I get serious error and shut down messages all the time with those
two, and neither of them are running as they should, but updates don't do
anything either, so still not sure how to repair. Though I've tried running
the repair on Outlook using the disk, no difference, wish Microsoft would
just make products that we could depend on and not spend the majority of our
time on our systems, trying to figure out how to repair them, but actually
using them. Hence the switch over to Apple, but still have to take the time
to learn all new programs for that one...

Thanks guys any advice or suggestions are tremendously appreciated...

Here is what I have in my event log viewer... there's a lot of issues,
which
I've also been posting (hopefully in the right areas).
...(snip)
This just continues on... as you can see this is only under Applications
and
from today back to 5/3/08...

I greatly appreciate any advice or help, as we can see this is a real
mess...
Are you by any chance running under "Parallels" on an Intel Mac? If so
please
visit "Parallels" support webpage. The problem may have to do with
"Parallels", not Windows XP per se.

If you are not running Parallels please state your OS and hardware
setup; you have not given any information about your software or
hardware at all.

Actually I have had the same issue but never figured out a resolution.
This is on a standard XP install for me. My workaround was to
eventually install a different Just-In-Time debugger but I know that
isn't an acceptable solution for everyone. I install Visual C++ Express
2008 that contains one and replaces dwwin.exe.

dwwin.exe is the Dr. Watson Just-In-Time debugger. It gathers some
information regarding the crash and stores it in a file. The problem is
that there is a crash occuring in a program during shutdown. Since the
computer is shutting down dwwin.exe is prevented from starting up and
you get that error.
