I refer to your reply to "Hi Nass" regarding your start-up problem.
I have had an identical start-up problem for some months and my event viewer
did not show any error messages. Over the period I tried many things in
order to fix the problem without result.
Recently I dusted the interior of my computer including removing and
cleaning the fan and refitting it. Somehow this has completely rectified my
start-up problem and it has not re-occurred.
It's worth trying.

Hi to all who helped in this thread.
I got very overwhelmed when the realization hit that I've got perhaps
major
problem and no way to repair or replace, outside of what I can work on.
So, I just came back and reread the whole thread again, and gained a
better
overall picture and you all are just so awesome to help as you did.
I was able to reseat the memory today. Been on some 12 hours no problems
yet; but yesterday video went off an on in a seconds time; did that twice;
then 20 mins later did same but along with sys freeze; again only lasted a
second or two, and that occurred 3 times.
So today reseating the memory.
I found the two fans are running; but I doubt they are doing a good job as
I
see scorch or brown marks on top of the pc cover inside.
Yesterday I tried to install the nividia graphics and on install gets to a
message saying my sys has nothing compatible with that driver, which is
incorrect; so that's an area to look into if winds up to need the driver.
As since the monitor went on and off yesterday and while doing so did not
click; as should do if off; made me think, this is really a memory
problem.
I'm concerned about the 102 error code as one of you said is something to
be
seen to if continues. Haven't seen it since the 14th.
I've got a lot to do as I see from the thread.
This sys is probably quite old; so on the time issue; where was recommened
may need battery; probably do. My date and time I see is fine; but I
imagine
is about an internal date and time.
I just wanted to come back and thank you all very much! I have so much to
work on and just thank you for all the resources and your support.
As did yesterday; will see how sys goes for a day or so and see if runs
without error.
I have a dsl situation; which causes another event error; but need to find
a
dsl tech site to troubleshoot that problem; and event viewer shows an
error
every time I connect the dsl; and not sure if that is a true problem; or
not.
I connect fine. But may be messing up files.
I can not turn off tea timer in spybot; though I've set it to off in
advanced and anywhere else i saw to be off all the time; and no startup;
but
regardless; starts up in tray all the time. It's a problem for me; due to
the pop up messages; and not knowing some times; whether to allow or
disallow. I don't like that it messes with the registry and wish I could
turn it off; and that's a day at that forum.
Zonealarm; as mentioned above has a problem and don't know what it is; but
since the original blue screen of death nv4_disp error; it appears that
zone
alarm has somehow forgotten all my settings (which it never has done); and
has been popping up for things it should not. I also updated it about two
weeks back, but it didn't start popping up questions for allow/deny for
everyday things until the bsod; after that i mean. I always update and
it
always recalls settings and as said it did so until the error; then
started
pop ups for many normal routine things.
So I appreciate the link you gave for that situation on true vector
problem.
Again, want to thank you, I just felt overwhelmed on the day started this
thread when realized the situation.
I'm home, and it's either net or sleep; as am home all the time; and am a
moderator..which is why I slipped used two names here in error; one my
name,
one my staff name. So, can imagine, without a pc.. without something to
do;
don't know what I'd do, and I guess there's millions like me out
there..lol
Am going to work thru the things to do but may be a day or so.
Thank you again, you all are wonderful to give of your time and knowledge
and skills to help me and many others.
blessings,
casey

Hi Nass,
Thanks for your help! My question is; that today my system had many
problems starting up; approx. 7 attempts; and all starting differently;
some
with 3 beeps at first; some loading all the way; then monitor shutting
down;
or keyboard is not working etc.. so had many problems today; and it was
about
3 days ago go the nv4_disp error.
No mention of the error in the start up problems; so my question is -
before
i install the correct graphic update driver for my system; is my
problems I'm
having today starting up; caused from this nv4_disp problem?
thanks
Casey

Hi, I read thru other entries to see resolution for this errorRead this link before updates:
message
nv4_disp.
But before I update my driver; want to explain what happened as did
not see
same in others.
Few days ago got that error message nv4_disp and infinite loop, and
sys
restarted or I did, and all came up fine.
now, 3 days later; at today; i turn on sys, and in 6 or so attempts
all
different problems occur;
on one start up 3 beeps, pc runs, no video
on another sys starts up; video fades (the video of windows xp
starting)
on another 3 beeps and nothing.
all of these hang sooner or later somewhere in the start up sequence.
So, my question is;
for this nv4_disp error; I see the resolution is to update the
graphics
driver; but do any of these start up problems above make any sense;
occurring
3 days or so after the error message, no troubles until today on
start up?
Thank you,
Casey
