Does anyone know when/if/where a CD will be obtainable of XP Service Pack 3?

When SP2 was about to become available, Microsoft was taking pre-orders for
it to be posted on CD FREE of charge; I can't find any such offer on MS web
pages as of yet.

When it's finally released, yes, you can order it, pay $10+ orr whatever it is for shipping (shipping isn't free), and wait the week or three for it to arrive.

Or, you can download the entire install, burn it to CD or DVD, and have it within an hour or so for under a dollar. If you don't have a highspeed connection yourself, it shouldn't be hard to find a friend or internet cafe who can do this for you, still costing less than shipping from MS.

Ultimately, you're going to want to slipstream SP3 to your original XP CD (as long as you don't have an OEM CD with other updates applied), so getting the official CD isn't a huge advantage.
