Event Viewer - Deleting Custom Log Files

Hi

I have created a log file in error and this appears within Event Viewer.

I have tried to delete it using the following steps...
1. disable the event log service
2. restart windows
3. delete the *.evt file from system32/config

however when I restart the service the event log is recreated!?!?!

Is there a file / registry setting that holds a list of the event logs to
create...?

Thanks for any help.
