Re: how can I install software into only the Adminsitrator user ac

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

hi and thank you for the help - however, the following did not remove it from
the other users....
I reposted as:
I want to install software into only the Administrator's user account. (As
in only mine, and not the kids !!)

Can I choose this when I am prompted to "select destination folder" during
the installation, or do I have to install it, and then remove it from the
other accounts?

If you know how to do this, please send instructions !! (detailed if possible)

*note* I did try to install and then move into "owner" however it still
remained on desktop of other user.... I quite possibly did this wrong !!??

Lanwench,
He might want to move the shortcut to the program out of the All User
area and into his own Start menu area.

Sure - that's true. But that doesn't prevent other users from launching the
app, so I don't see much value in it - and it isn't how the question was
written. :-)

In greater detail,
Start || Rtclk on MyComputer || Explore || C: Drive (or whatever
drive he's used for Win XP) || Documents and Settings || All Users ||
Start Menu || Programs || Move the desired folder or file from here
to -- || Documents and Settings || Joe HotShot AdminGuy (or whatever
his account name is) || Start Menu || Programs and drop the moved
folder/file here.

This is all based upon the program installer wanting to install the
program in the All User area.

Install & run the software by selecting, "run as" this puts

Hmmm - no, it won't - and I'm not sure your answer addresses the
question. He *is* the administrator.
