Yes you will lose most of your files i dumped my computer and it took me 4-5
hours just to download my windows explorer. everytime i downloaded a newer
version i had to re-start my computer. then i lost my sound driver. it has
taken me over a month and countless sessions with hp to restore it and
somehow i lucked into doing it myself if you can back up everything then i
would recommend doing that first before you do anything else. hopefully you
won't have the same problems that i had thankfully i have restored everyting
back to what i had before i dumped everyting
