Getting rid of "Found new hardware"

A few weeks ago, my computer started showing a message "Found new
ardware - Image", although I had not installed any new hardware, and then
started the "Found new hardware wizard". Cancelling it gives a reproachful
message that your new hardware may not work. I have tried letting the
wizard runs but after a while it reports that it cannot find what it is
looking for.

From the name "Image", I thought it might be relate to my Brother MFC 640CW,
which has a scan function, but the software was installed months ago and I
have used the Scan function occasionally with no problem.

I have now got in the habit of cancelling the wizard after every start-up
but is there any way of getting rid of the message ?
