Re: Auto shut off

Gerry,
True. And if problem shows up in the security log, you see "Failure audit"

Scott,
Double-click on one of the event log names listed in the left pane of
event viewer. Review the log, looking for events marked as "failure"
or "warning".

RtClk on an "interesting" event. Select Properties from the context
menu. You will receive a brief explanation of the event. At the end
of the explanation will be a link which will give you still more info
regarding the event.

Incidentally, the link is:
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

Karl,

Thanks for your advice. What should I look for in event log? In
addition, I notice that when I use intenet to surf the website and
auto shut off has higher frequency.

Scott,
Examine the event log.
Win+R || type EventVwr.msc || hit Enter

My notebook computer suddently shuts off automatically. The
intervals are irregular, i.e. 5 mins to 1 hr. It does not seem to
be power off as when I turn on the computer again, there was no
question asking if boot-up executes normally. What should I check
before I send for repair? I have no idea if it is caused by
software or hardware. Thanks,

Scott
