Scott,
Double-click on one of the event log names listed in the left pane of event
viewer. Review the log, looking for events marked as "failure" or
"warning".
RtClk on an "interesting" event. Select Properties from the context menu.
You will receive a brief explanation of the event. At the end of the
explanation will be a link which will give you still more info regarding the
event.
Incidentally, the link is:
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

My notebook computer suddently shuts off automatically. The intervals
are irregular, i.e. 5 mins to 1 hr. It does not seem to be power off as
when I turn on the computer again, there was no question asking if
boot-up executes normally. What should I check before I send for
repair? I have no idea if it is caused by software or hardware.
Thanks,
Scott
