Ok.  So I installed updates today for Windows XP 32bit.  Once the
updates were installed and the computer restarted the display
resolution was changed to 1024 X 768.

My native resoultion has been 1680 X 1050 since I built the computer
and it is running a 22" WS LCD  with a eVGA 8600GTS video card.  I'm
not sure why any of the updates today would have effected the drivers
but they have.  So I have tried to uninstall the display drives and
adapter and update them with no success.   If anyone can point me in
the right direction or provide a way to manual set the display
resolution it would be appreciated.- Hide quoted text -

No I never use Microsofts Software updates.  If its software related I
go to the vendor.  That being said I tried both the nvidia drivers.
Evga drivers(most current) and the Evga drivers(from the disk that
came with the video card)  with no go.
Also the diplayed resolutions are way off and not supported by my
monitor.  The resolution choices it gives me now are:
720 X 1280 (not supported)
768 X 1024 (great if my monitor was sideways)
768 X 1280 (not supported)
800 X 600 (generic resolution)
800 X 1280 (not supported)
864 X 1152 (another sideways resolution)
760 X 1280 (not supported)
1024 X 768 (generic resolution)
1024 X 1280 (not supported)
1680 X 2100 (you guessed it sideways resolution)

also if i uninstall all the display adapter / drivers then the default
resolutions are 800 X 600  1024 X 768  1024 X 1280 and 1680 X 2100

I'm beggining to think there is an error in the "Default Monitor" that
microsoft uses as if there were an update to it.  However the Driver
Date is still 6/6/2001 Version 5.1.2001.0

As a note we have the same exact monitor on another computer (haven't
updated that one yet) and it is listed as a Plug and Play monitor and
not Default Monitor- Hide quoted text -

I am going to do a re-install of windows XP to verify that it was
indeed the windows update that caused the error. I will post back
after the install to let everyone know how it went.
