installing XP

To install win XP on notebook with DOS only: should I just insert XP CD, restart PC and follow the on screen prompts?
Does it will recognize XP Cd with no problems? Partition and formatting hard disk will be done during setup, no needs to format hard disk first?
For 120Gb disk one partition is enough?
