"Quicktime"...
Not that the two other bits of software weren't Apple products
(that you do not own or use), but this is likely how they got
installed. At some point you (or someone on your computer or
perhaps the manufacturer) installed Apple Quicktime. It would have
- by default - installed the rest. Perhaps you visited a web page
that had a quicktime video and just told it that it was okay to
install whatever you needed - who knows. In any case...

Open-ended question. No one can accurately answer it without
putting limitations of some sort on it.

First - Windows Media Player *will not* natively play all formats of
video/audio you might run into out in the real world. There are
just too many. And sometimes - it might play them, but not as well.

Secondly - What version of Windows Media Player are we even talking
about here? One can assume (but it is an assumption) that you are
running Windows XP, so you probably have either v9, 10 or 11 of
Windows Media Player... You could also be using some version of
Windows Media Player Classic (6.4)...

Some animations and such on various web pages are not going to be
visible to you without Quicktime or perhaps an alternative made to
replace it:

How do you utilize Windows Media Player and what do you use your
computer for and do you foresee ever - in your lifetime with this
computer - changing what you might need on it?

The short answer to several of your questions are the same.
Whether or not you need it is not something anyone here can tell
you directly as no one here sits around and monitors your computer
usage every minute (if they do - doubtful they are going to admit
it here. hah) You have to research what it is you are going to
remove and then decide if you ever run across a need for it or not
during your normal daily use of your computer. Certainly,having
Quicktime installed is not harmful for most. Neither is having the
rest you have listed.

Beyond that - to explain how I came at the answers I have give to
you is very simple:

I suggest Google only because it seems to be the most popular,
really. Everyone knows its name. Many times I utilize a product
known as "WebFerret" that searches using several search engines -
Google not being one of them actually. But - the premise is the
same. While asking is easy, when the question is easy to find the
answer for - sometimes it is still less trouble than asking to find
the answer. ;-)
