Thanks for the input. I'm afraid my problem looks more serious than that. The shortcut address appears okay - ...%SystemRoot%/system32/calc.exe - but it cannot be found. I have tried "Search" for calc.exe and nothing comes up. It looks very much like it has somehow become uninstalled or so badly corrupted as to be unrecognisable by Windows.

I'm running XP Home on my laptop.

I have suddenly lost all trace of my calculator. I use this quit a bit and even had an icon on the taskbar, but even this has disappeared, leaving just the default icon that leads nowhere.

Can anyone help?

Create a new shortcut and type "calc.exe" in the Target field.
