I finished a course in Microsoft Word a while back, and I would like to
know if Microsoft Word can be bought and downloaded anywhere by itself,
or at least bundled in a package with Microsoft Excel. It seems I can
only find Word as part of the Microsoft Office package. I don't want
all that, plus it costs $700.00. I just want Word. Is this possible?
Can anyone help? Sorry this isn't really a Windows XP question. This is
the only computer help site I'm a member of. THANKS!

I don't know if it's available in your part of the world, but you might want to
look into Office Home and Student 2007. It contains full versions of Word,
Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote. While it cannot be used in a commercial
environment, the license allows for installation on three different devices.
Office Home and Student 2007

I've seen this suite sold locally for less than $120. A full version of just
Microsoft Word retails for around $200.
Another option would be to check around for a used copy of Microsoft Works
Suite. The recent suite version of Works came bundled with Word 2002.
Good luck
