When I try to do a loop back ping it drops all of the packets and all other

Are "Network Connections", "Remote Procedure Call(RPC)", and "Windows
Management Instrumentation" services ALL turned on?
ICS depends on these being on.

When I type ipconfig /all I get:
DHCP Enabled - Yes
Autoconfiguration Enabled - Yes
IP Address - 0.0.0.0.
Subnet Mask -0.0.0.0.
Default Gateway -
DHCP Server - 192.168.1.1.
DNS Servers - 74.134.1.132
74.134.1.333

Ricpedtech,

What happens if you disable the firewall & then do this:

START | RUN | Type 'cmd (without quotes) & press ENTER

type:

ipconfig /renew

then type:

ipconfig /all

Do you have an IP address now? If so then you need to allow your network cards access via
the firewall

My computer was working fine and then later in the day I tried to connect to
the Internet I was unable to. I looked at my IP config and all of the IP
addresses are 0.0.0.0. (IP Address/Subnet Mask and Default Gateway - has no
reading).

When I try to use ipconfig /renew I get: "An error occured while renewing
interface Local Area Connection : The RPC server is unavailable."

I have tried my laptop at home and at work and the other computers on the
networks are working fine.

I see in the Task bar the wireless and the local area conntections are
trying to aquire a network address but with no luck.

I have a Compaq Presario 2700 Laptop with XP Pro installed.
