There's no way to do this natively if the application doesn't support minimizing to the tray, you'd need to use 3rd party software such as Trayit to do it.

I have a program that I want to run at start up but not show in the task bar,
if possible, like maybe run in the tray in the lower right hand corner (where
the clock is). Is this possible.
I am pretty sure there is a way to add and remove things from the tray.
