Re: XP Home on laptop with small drive

I had no idea that it was possible to upgrade the HD. Any idea where I
should search for the larger drive? Thanks

I decided to resurrect my 7 year old Sony Vaio laptop. It has an AMD
K6-III
550MHz processor and 256KRam. The hard drive is 5.7GB partitioned into a
C
drive of 2.286 and a D drive of 3.436. The old operating system was 98ME.
I
had to load WX Home of the D drive (clean install) because there wasn't
enough room on the C drive for it. It runs fine but I get the message
"You
are running low on disk space". I ran Disk Cleanup which provided some
space. So 1) Can I repartition the drive to eliminate the C drive?
2)Any
ideas about what I might further delete from the XP Home install to make
more
space on D? Thanks much for your help

You are desperately low on disk space. I also think that
your laptop is staggering under the load of WinXP. I suggest
one of the following options, listed in order of preference:

a) Get a faster machine with a larger disk.
b) Restore Windows 98.
c) Replace the disk.

Repartitioning is not really an option - you will run out
of space in no time at all.

An 80 GByte 2.5" disk is quite cheap and is also a little
faster than your current 6 GByte disk.
