Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

Using IE6 running in XP. All went fine until Microsoft's recent updates. I
tried to instal IE7 - but it didn't work and in any event tried to instal
onto an external drive (gave me no option). So I revert to IE6. Constant
error messages - the usual "IE has experienced a problem and needs to
close........" Usually takes 6-8 attempts before it will actually star.
Anyone any idea of how this can be corrected - or should I go to
Netscape/Firefox ??? TIA rOCK
