Problems With Internet Browsers

I've had this probably on and off and notice it's getting worse.

Whenever I'm on the internet I have problems getting to websites.
I'll get this these types of errors:

Internet Explorer cannot display the web page

Most likely causes:
You are not connected to the Internet.
The website is encountering problems.
There might be a typing error in the address.

What you can try:
Check your Internet connection. Try visiting another website to
make sure you are connected.

Retype the address.

Go back to the previous page.

More information

This problem can be caused by a variety of issues, including:

Internet connectivity has been lost.
The website is temporarily unavailable.
The Domain Name Server (DNS) is not reachable.
The Domain Name Server (DNS) does not have a listing for the website's
domain.
If this is an HTTPS (secure) address, click tools, click Internet
Options, click Advanced, and check to be sure the SSL and TLS
protocols are enabled under the security

section.

Navigator can't establish a connection to the server at

* The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try
again in a few
moments.

* If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's
network
connection.

* If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or
proxy, make sure
that Navigator is permitted to access the Web.

I will get an error from Firefox that the page has been reset. I often
reload the page and it comes up. But many times I have to completely
shut down the browser all together and reopen it to get it to bring a
page up.

I have checked for Viruses, Malware and Adware. Nothing is found.
I've tried changing my network cable, and updating the driver for my
Ethernet Card. I do notice that the more that I'm on the internet
browsing or whatnot the problem gets worse. I don't think it's a
problem with my router because the other networked computer doesn't
have the problem. I have the error no matter what browser I'm
using.

I have windows xp media center edition, 2 gig of ram, 200gig hard
drive. I have a d-link 514 router it's an 802.11b set up. So it's an
older model.

Any ideas on what the problem might be and how to fix it?
