Re: Drop shadow problem - nobody could solve it so far

The monitor I am currently working on has the same problem but only if I do
not install VGA drivers or an incorrect resolution with improper Refresh Rate.

Had you tried different resolution with different refresh rates and you
should also give a try the Clear Type program. If you affraid of wrong
settings then maybe there was a restore Default setting but was available.
You will get nothing till you give a try.

I will not say that the Default Refresh Rates of Windows are fake but

I too get sometimes the same effects with Drop Shadows but when Resolution -
Refresh Rate are set accordingly it works perfect.

I am not a Developer, so can't comment on Windows Coding but I think there
are still many things that needs improvement. I have 8 PCs and sometimes I
get amazed when the same thing doesn't run another PC of same configuration.

Used cleartype for sometime but has terrible view with my old CRT
monitor. When refesh desktop while using cleartype, the shadow problem
appears but minor than standard type. But not completely. So, i don't
use cleartype any time :-(

When select for "adjust for best appearance", everything is selected
but this doesn't do anything regarding to problem.

If nothing works then try tuning the Clear Type of Windows XP by using the

Don't know if it's useful or may harm XP, Tried but that tool has no
difference than you do settings manually.

Thanks for your interest, but still no solid help.

With lower resolution modes like 800x600 @60 hz, almost no shadow is
displayed, with current mode(1024x768@60) shadows are displayed
temporarily as the problem of topic.

There are 3 key points which couldn't make a solution:

1-When shadows are lost due to icon selection or desktop usage, they
only comes back if i refresh desktop for numerous times till the next
icon click and desktop usage --- vicious circle

2-I saw the same issue on a different computer who uses a CRT monitor
with "plug and play" driver in device manager, with Nvidia forceware
card with same driver (93.71 latest for Geforce4 series).

3-There's no major problems about graphics cards on these 2 computers
except this minor icon label shadow problem.- Hide quoted text -

What does the link you gave mean?
Does that article say sthat although you change (lowering or
increasing) refresh rate, it doesn't take effect?

Hundred millions of computers use Windows's standard refresh rate/
resolution changing menus, so is the refresh rate they set under
Windows is fake?
I don't think that it must apply for all monitors, because when you
change refresh rate just under Windows, you may see the difference.
