My PC is a clean Dell 4500S Win XP Home with all the updates; no USB
network
adapter or other priferal devices.

I have two user accounts: FamilyAdmin, FamilyLimited.

I am unable to enable the Welcome Screen which displays multiple users.
Instead I get one dialogue box for the only the default user. To switch
users, I have to type the names.

Over many hours, I have tried:

=== Control Panel/User Accounts, checked the boxes.
=== TweakUI.
=== Run "control userpasswords2"
=== MVP Doug Knox's Utility.
=== Nothing in the Services seems to affect it.
=== Read the Forums and searched the Internet.
=== Enabled and disabled the password for the FamilyAdmin account.

I see no installed software or hardware that would conflict with the
log-on
policies.

Something is blocking the ability for this PC to boot up with the
Welcome
Screen. What is it?

Try this:
Control Panel / User Accounts / Change the way users log on and off / Use
the Welcome screen.

==== I already tried it about 10 times...as I mentioned above.

Your statement "Checked the boxes" is rather ambiguous - you never
said which boxes you checked.

If your machine is or was joined to a domain, e.g. in an office environment,
then you have to disconnect it from this domain in order to see the Welcome
screen.
================================

It was not that ambiguous. You response was too simplistic in view of what I
posted.

There is no indication it has ever been in an office domain. Would it be too
much trouble for you guide me unabiguously on how to check the domain and
correct the log-on?
