Very good advice, that. On a more prosaic level, I would ask:

- Are you an inveterate gamer, who wants the latest in speed and graphics abilities for the latest games?

- Do you do a lot of video manipulation (editing video, etc.)

If the answer to either or both of those questions is "yes", you would likely appreciate the Vista upgrade. If the answer to both is "no",
stick with XP for now - you have little to gain switching. It will likely be on your next computer by default, anyway.
