Re: Cannot connect to Workgroup

"Dang Dude" did you really call me an ASS? Some one is bitter. With a name
like that no wonder you have some issues. When you create an account and do
not enter a password, what is the password? You said there are not any blank
passwords. Please educate me, no matter what you think I am listening. Oh and
I did set passwords for my user accounts and I still cannot connect. When I
type \\computer name it still ask for a password, and the user account and
password do not work. I still cannot see "default shared folder" or the
shared folder I have created in my network places and when I try to add a
printer it still says access denied. I have only seen these types of errors
on a domain which I am not a part of.

I can tell you for sure that user accounts and passwords do not matter. this
workgroup use to work. Three different machines with three different user
accounts and all had blank passwords. set it all up by running the home
office wizard on all three PC's and never had any problems. Some thing
changed some where. maybe an update i installed or an application.

I hate forums because everyone assumes the basics. I hate haveing to
explain
every little detail. both machines are on the same workgroup!

*************************************************************
Both machines do have the same user accounts with the same blank passwords!
allthough i dont think same user accounts matter.
As pointed out in an earlier post; blank passwords don't work.

Finally file and printer sharing is
turned on. I am just irritated with this issue, it should be simple. There
is
something I am missing and i cant find it. Does anybody have any
suggestions.
I have googled this to no end.

dosen't
even work?

If you are trying to network the machines, you need to ensure all
machines that are going to be able to "see" each other - and this
includes being able to "see/use" printers on remote machines - have
the same user account with the same non-blank passwords. You also
need to make sure printer/file sharing is turned on, and that all
machines are on the same workgroup for peer-to-peer networks.

Then regardless of what you THINK, the user accounts did NOT have
blank passwords. It won't work if you have BLANK passwords, period.

Try adding passwords to the user accounts on all the computers, and
I'll bet you'll notice everything suddenly starts working.

Or don't. I really don't care since you don't want to take our advice
and are saying that more than one of us, telling you that YOU are
mistaken, are wrong.

Ass.
