A downside to that common suggestion is that you end up with a non
contiuous pagefile and fragmented free disk space. Better to put a
pagefile in it's own dedicated partition and providing it has ample
space you can forget about it!

Officially, Microsoft states that virtual (swap) memory should be 1.5
times the physical RAM. In your case min and max should be set to
768.

That makes no sense. When you have a large amount of RAM, you need
*less* space in the swap file, not more. Far and away the best idea is
to let Windows manage it.
