well,

if your cd is not
booting and you
can not access the
harddrive, then there
may be little options.

but if both devices are
not working, then we
could look for a common
denominator.

common denominators
include the cmos/bios,
motherboard and power
supply.
-------------------------
inside your cmos/bios
there should be a line
somewhere where the
harddrive stats are
reported like its size.
also, it might refer to
your harddrive as
disk 0 or hd1 or something
similar.

does it indicate a harddrive?

also, there should be a time
displayed in there too. is
the time correct?

yes i have tried to boot with the cd but nothing happens i get a blank screen
i have gone into bios and changed the options so it boots with the cd but
even that doesnt do anything and i havent recently installed anything on it??

not sure yet.

but sometimes
installing a secondary
operating system, can
screws up the system
and give you that error.

the next step is to repair
the operating system.

you mentioned that your
windows cd didn't work,
but not sure if you simply
meant you were unable to
boot with it.

go into you bios/cmos and
ensure your computer is
set to boot from the cd
instead of the harddrive.

then reboot with the cd.

if windows begins to
install the setup files,
then your pc may be
recoverable.

let us know if you are
able to boot with your
cd.
