Is the hard drive recognised in the BIOS?
What is the hard drive make and model?

Hope this helps.

Each time I attempt to boot up this BSOD message appears:
"A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent
damage to your computer.
If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart
your computer. If this screen appears again follow these steps:
Check for viruses on your computer. Remove any newly installed hard
drives or hard drive controllers. Check your hard drive to make sure
it is properly
configured and terminated. Run CHKDSK /F to check for hard drive
corruption, and then restart your computer.
Technical informaiton:
*** STOP: 0X0000007B (0XF78BE524, 0XC0000034, 0X00000000, 0X00000000)"
The motherboard is new, the memory is new (2GB), and the drive works
perfectly in another similar PC. I tried booting up with the Windows
CD and going to "R", but the CD does not recognize the hard drive. A
known good motherboard and memory has been substituted with the same
results.
I've consulted another tech I know, and we are both stumped.
