Re: Restoring your backup files

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

Think of it this way. You needed to have work done on your house so you
hired a company to pack all of your belongings into boxes and leave these in
your living room. The work was completed on your house. Then you get on the
phone and ask a set of strangers who have never seen your stuff tell you
which boxes to look in and where to put everything. In other words " How the
hell do we know? Ask the packers."

I myself have not been familiar with doing backups. I really do not know
anything about it. I had to take im my comp for diagnostics and they had
to
fix the problems I was having and they reinstalled my windows. They asked
me
if I wanted to entirely wipe out my system or if I would like to have my
stuff saved. I opted to save. I have a backup file saved to my desktop and
what I would like to know is how I go about restoring the backup.
Anyone please??

I had my comp fixed and my stuff was saved in a backup file on my
desktop.
I
would really like to put everything back where it was......how do I
restore
the backup? Please help.

(1)What backup software/system did you use? (2)Do you see the backup
application/files on your desktop to where you originally backed up?
(3)Did
the "fixing" include a re-installation of your operating system (or did
the
fixer use Restore Discs) which you say is Windows XP?
If 2's answer is "no", and 3's answer is "yes", it'd probably be
better
if someone more knowledgeable than I help you restore the backup. s
