It still displays 1280 x 1024 but so did my 20" monitor. (The reason I
bought a 22" was for the higher res.)
Thanks.

Win XP SP2.
I have a 22" LCD monitor that is attached as an external monitor to my
laptop. Until recently it displayed
a resolution of 1200 x 1600. A recent restart changed that and now 1200 x
1600 requires the screen to scroll (by pushing the cursor against the
edge
of the screen) in order to cover all from side to side. Quite annoying.
How do I return to the previous situation where the actual screen of the
LCD
displayed 1600x1200 within the whole screen without scrolling?
The first question is: are you absolutely certain that you were driving
yor screen at 1600x1200 originally? The behaviour that you describe is
typical of driving a screen at above its native resolution (though it does
depend on the monitor and how it is interfaced). What happens if you
change to a lower resolution (say) 1280 x 1024?
.
