Re: Cancel download from Microsoft

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

Step 5 will deleted the downloaded files:

You should install all or most of the updates.
Go to Windows/Microsoft Update and install the updates 5 or 10 at a time.
Testing between each installation/reboot.
Disable any anti virus, spyware detector, download accelerators and other unnecessary programs before each download.

I installed a new copy of Windows XP Professional over a previously
installed illegal copy. It was a full install.

When I went to check for dowloads at the Microsoft dowload site, about 70
downloads, mostly for security checks) were identified. Rather than
scrutinize each one, i opted to select all of them and did the download.
This was succesful and everything was installed. And then I turned the
computer off.

Later, I restarted the computer and found that I had no connection to the
Internet. I checked with the ISP technical help people and they ascertained
that it was not a problem at their end and it was likely in the computer.

So, I sort of solved the problem by performing a System Restore to a time
before I did the downloads. That worked fine and I am now connected to the
Internet.

Unfortunately, after enough time passed for the computer to pass the time I
set for the System Restore, I found that I had a problem when I went to turn
it off.

As it went through the process of shutting down it started downloading all
these files all over again. There was a message on the screen that said, to
the effect "Do not switch oiff the compter while this is happening". Not
wanting to lose my Internet again, I ignored the message and switched the
computer off. This did no harm, but since then every time I go the shut down
it starts the darned downloads all over again.

So, my question is: How can I find out how to cancel these downloads?

Thanks
