all the programs hanging off my start menu.
any ideas? it's like something in the registry is pointing to my D drive or
something.
I tries running the tweak and that just seems to hang whilst installing.
still cant get to control panel either.
HELP!!
Cheers

Hopefully. If not, you may try repairing the icons using TweakUI.

See if you can extract a new copy of rundll32.exe from CD.

ok, it looks like the adware has done more damage than 1st thought. I have
reloaded userinit.exe and changed the registry back to point to this. Now
when I launch User Account for example it says "rundll32.exe missing". Also
all my 3rd party installed software icons on the desktop are blank.
Any ideas? Something else in the registry?
Thanks again

Yes. Copying the file from a slipstreamed XP CD, or from another PC with the same SP level as yours, should help.

Hi,
I have had some issues with a PC logging staright off after login on.
Massive amounts or virus and addware going on! I have (thanks to other
threads) managed to change the registry for winlogon to explorer.exe from
userinit.exe so at least I can boot up.
On investigation userinit.exe is missing! Is it ok to straight copy back
from CD or another PC so I can change the registery back? As although I can
logon the PC most apps aren't working correctly.
Cheers
