Cannot save new power options

XP Home sp2
Dell Inspiron B120

There are two default schemes in the Power Options dialog: Portable/
Laptop and Home/Office Desk. If I change the specific settings ("Turn
off monitor", etc.) for these and press Apply > OK, my new settings
are saved with no problem.

However, if I change any of the settings and try to create a newly
named power scheme using the Save As button (and then Apply > OK), and
then return to the Power Options dialog, the new scheme is not listed
and the default Power/Laptop scheme appears (with its default
settings).

How can I get the Save As feature to work? Is there a setting
elsewhere?
