Re: I think my computer hates me

For the past few days my computer has had no sound. It fairly new about two weeks old. I just woke up one day and there was no sound when I started it up. I tried all the basic stuff like rebooting checking connections, etc.. but no luck. I asked around the discussion boards here and tried some of their advice but still no luck. Finally I got desperate and reinstalled Windows XP (wanted to do this anyone since I was having lots of other minor annoyances with Vista) and still nothing. Finally after connecting the speakers to the front headphone jack I got sound out of the left speaker. So the next day I went out and spent 30 bucks on a new sound card. But after I got it home and started up the computer to try and disable the sound card on the motherboard to install the new one the sound suddenly came back. Now I get sound out of the front headphone jack (speakers are currently connected to it.) and sound out of the right side if I connect to the back jacks. But basically it looks like I wasted 30 bucks on a sound card. Has anyone else ever had this kind of thing happen to them?

For a fairly new computer, it must certainly be under some sort of warranty.
Why not have the seller sort out the problem? More often than not, the loss
of sound ranges, in order of fault, the wiring and connector between the
speaker and the computer [or sound card], changes in configuration of the
sound card due to installation of an application (usually a game).
