Inserting a blank disk in RW drive reboots PC!

I am recently finding my PC re-boots when I insert even any blank DVD in the
DVDwriter!!
I find then that the PC will keep re-booting until I eject the DVD. Then it
seems only if I push the DVD draw (with DVD) back in at a certain point in
the boot sequence will it continue to boot up to normal. Before or after
that and it will reboot again.. and again!
It doesn't happen every time I put a disc in, even if the conditions (apps
running etc.) are the same.
I don't seem to have autoplay set on this drive, so I don't know why it is
even bothering when I load a DVD.
Please can anybody help?
Thanks
Nigel
