Attempt first to find the problem. What does system (event) log
report? What does device manager report when NIC is working and when
it is not? What are the indicator lights reporting on NIC connection
and on router both before and when network connection is lost? What
happens when you ping to the router repeatedly (ping -t
xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx where xxx is the IP address of the router or
anything after the router)? What happens when NIC hardware
diagnostics execute (the complictaions created by Windows removed)?
Answers to these questions begin the process of breaking a problem
down into parts and learning which parts do or do not work properly.
