Re: Windows XP Home Edition
Tech-Archive recommends: Speed Up your PC by fixing your registry
Try having her boot into the hidden Administrator account that is created
when XP Home is setup. Restart the computer and keep tapping the F8 key
until you see a bootmenu. Use the arrow keys to select the option to start
in Safe mode and press the Enter key. The log on screen will show an account
simply called Administrator. It has no password. Log on to it and then go to
the Control Panel->User accounts. You should be able to remove and reset
passwords for her regular accounts there.

My question is that a friend of mine has Windows XP Home Edition and
several
unauthorized individuals have compromised the password. She asked me how
to
change the password and walked her through the steps. I had her go to
user
accounts to change the password, but it wouldn't let her change the
password.
I'm sure I had her in as the computer administrator. I even tried to
change
the password myself with no success. What am I doing wrong. Please
advise.
