Help I can't figure out what happened to my notebook/

Hi I recently accepted a friend of mines hp pavillion ze5700 notebook to try
and fix for him, well I got it home and started it up and first it said that
the ntldr file is missing so I got my windows XP Pro disk out and tryed to
get the computer to boot from the disk so windows would come on but it always
says setup could not complete and finally it is saying "the session manager
initialization system process terminated unexpectidly with a status of
0Xc0000034 (0x00000000 0x00000000) Fatal system error!
I have tryed to get it to the bios setup when it boots but nothing ever
happens and I can't ever get to that point I have tryed to do the R for the
recovery console thingie but that hasn't worked either. I have searched for
48 hours online through many of different web links trying to figure out what
happened to this notebook and how I can go about fixing it but I always seem
to keep running into brick walls because I can't even get it to the bios
setup part to see if I can fix it there so PLEASE can anyone help me I am so
desperate and in need of someone who knows what might be going on here.
