Re: Mouse and Keyboard don't work - sometimes

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

If no fix, go to:

find all the services with their purposes and recommended settings. Suggest
you print them out for future reference.

When I start my machine the mouse and keyboard respond (lights on
keyboard
and I can move the hour glass) as it's booting up but as soon as I
get to
the
window where I am to select which user is to log into the machine
they
quit
responding.
If I start up in safe mode everything works fine. I can select the
user I
want and get my desktop.
I check device mgr and everything looks normal.
Thanks

Something loads in Normal Mode that does not load in Safe Mode.
Your challenge is to find out what it is. Here is how you can do it:
1. Disconnect the machine from the Internet.
2. Boot it into Safe Mode.
3. Click Start / Run / msconfig {OK}
4. Click the Startup tab.
5. Untick every box, then click OK.
6. Reboot in Normal Mode.
You can now selectively enable the various tasks
you disabled in Step 5 until you find the culprit
that interferes with your keyboard.

Do not reconnect the machine to the net until
you have enabled your virus protection and your
firewall (if you have one).

I unchecked EVERYTHING and I still get the lockup at the "click user
name"
screen.
Suggestions?
An update...
I've started up config.sys and have gone to the general tab.
I have done "selective startup"
It starts fine with everything checked EXCEPT Load system Services. Once
I
do that then I'm back to the lock up problem.
