Hi
I am getting an error similarly
"Delayed Write Failed -Windows was unable to save all the data for the
file... The data has been lost. This error may be caused by a failure of
your computer hardware or network connection. Please try to save this file
elsewhere" when trying to save a file on VSS which is on a Windows 2003
Server with RAID. The users are running Windows XP SP2. Obtained hotfix
couldn't install since PCs are with XP SP2.
Pls help me to fix this.

Thanks for your reply Mark. Yes we are using RAID drive in the server but I.
can't see any error in the logs that could cause this.
I need to do more troubleshooting on this one.
Regards,
Charles

Hi,
A few of our users are getting "Delayed Write Failed -Windows was unable
to
save all the data for the file... The data has been lost. This error may
be
caused by a failure of your computer hardware or network connection.
Please
try to save this file elsewhere" when trying to save an Excel file in a
network share. These users are running Windows XP SP2 and the share is
on a
Windows 2003.
I've already checked article 321733 and tried applying the hotfix but
couldn't even install it since we are already using XP SP2.
Has anyone encounter something like this before and fixed it?
Thanks and regards,
Seanmig
Are you using a server with RAID drives? Server error logs may help you.
Possible reasons are stated in the error message:
1. the shared network drive was not available.
2. a hardware problem occurred on either the source or target machine(s)
(e.g., cables, hard drive, memory module, etc).
Systematically check from point A to point B for a problem. One make one
change at a time. If that is not a fix, undo it, try another. Create a test
file that you don't mind losing and attempt to recreate the problem. Check
the "Events Viewer" for error messages too. Start > Run > eventvwr.msc >
click OK.
