I have XP pro on my desktop & XP home on my laptop. Both are updated with
all the latest Microsoft updates. I changed the computer names (domain
name)
on both computers because they contained personal data. All items
scheduled
in both windows schedulers failed to start. The windows scheduler will
not
permit change to new domain name. It automatically sets old domain name.
When I "Apply", I get error 0x80041310, "Unable to establish existence of
account specified" because the Microsoft scheduler automatically inserts
the
old incorrect domain name. If I add a new account scheduler works OK with
new account. I.e. with new account the correct (current) domain name
(computer name) is automatically inserted. Problem seems to be similar to
Microsoft Knowledge Base article ID 303014. Microsoft acknowledges the
problem but does not provide a solution. I could add a new account and
delete my current account but I am concerned that my personal preferences,
favorites, e-mail etc. will be lost. Is there a fix for this?

Thanks Bob in PGI

You should use a dedicated account for all scheduler tasks.
