I have an XP Home SP2 PC that is giving me problems with user account
passwords. The PC had a rather nasty spyware infection on it, and so I
proceeded to clean it up. After everything was cleaned up, I rebooted the PC
and all was ok. The next time I rebooted however, every user account on the
PC (5 plut Administrator) is asking for a password, and there is no password
on any of the accounts. I went into Safe Mode, and even the Administrator
account is asking for a password. I downloaded and ran a tool called the
Windows NT/2K/XP password change utility, which I have used before to reset
unknown passwords on user accounts, but the utility says that all the
accounts on the computer have blank passwords. I tried a repair install of
XP, but that did not help. How can I get logged back into this PC? Thanks
for any ideas....!
Jeff
Boot the machine.
Press CTRL+ALT+DEL twice at the Welcome screen.
Type in the name of the administrator account.
Leave the password blank if one isn't used.
Press Enter.
