Re: Error 1722 - Windows Installer Package...

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

Reboot.

Click Start>Run, type: %temp% and click OK.
Press Ctrl+A to select all, then press Delete.

Click Start>Run, type: temp and click OK.
Press Ctrl+A to select all, then press Delete.

Windows will not let you delete any files in use....just skip them if prompted, and continue to delete the remaining files, then empty the Recycle Bin.

After that, please follow the instructions on this web page exactly:

Update to the Latest InstallShield Installation Engines
http://consumer.installshield.com/kb.asp?id=q108322

Then try uninstalling your version 7 of Retrospect, and install version 7.5

If that does not help, go through the list here:

How to resolve Common "Windows Installer" Problems
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=555175

An absolute "last resort" method is to use the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility to remove all references Retrospect only, and then try the installation:

Windows Installer Cleanup Utility -
http://windowsxp.mvps.org/MSICLEAN.htm
and
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=290301

Just to be safe, before using the CleanUp Utility, export the following two Registry keys to a file and save them to your Documents folder or Desktop:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\UserData\S-1-5-18\Patches

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Installer\Patches

I get this error -- There is a problem with the Windows Installer package.
A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your
support personnel or package vendor.

I contacted the authors of Retrospect 7.5. I've tried to install the latest
version - error. Their suggestion - unstall version 7.0. Again in the
uninstall process the same error.

The latest windows installer was downloaded within the past 24 hours. I got
this message before the latest version of the installer and after installing
the latest installer.

I could not uninstall or install in safe mode.

I am at a loss. Help is appreciated.

Thank you.

Fred
