Was it the processor fan?
What happens when you press F1?
Does Windows ever start?
When you press F2 to enter the BIOS Setup, look for any option to clear the store of error messages.
In BIOS Setup, record (via paper and pencil if necessary) your settings on each screen available, then use the option to revert to Setup defaults (there may be an option to revert to BIOS defaults also....what you want if available is the more optimised Setup Defaults). Then Save and Exit BIOS Setup.

"Previous fan error" message and did note the fan stops and starts. tried
another duplicate fan on this Dell 8250 and it worked, but still got the
"Strike F1 to retry boot, F2 for setup utility". Changed the system battery,
same issue even after resetting the date and time. Going to try slaving the
HDD on another computer, but is it possible the loss of the fan damaged the
processor?
Daddio - TIA
