Re: Removing search addresses

I'm a bit lost, since I have never addressed you primary issue, only that of
MSN browser vs. IE and the .Net Framework. I know nothing about "crouchie".
To remove those lists in IE, you use Taskbar and Start menu (in Control
Panel), click on Start Menu tab, click on either Clear or Clear List button
(depending on the view you use.)

Gary
I was able to download and install .net framework 1.1 without problem. I
tried the crouchie file but it did not remove any addresses from my MSN
Explorer. There were not any scroll down addresses when clicking on the
MSN
address bar while using internet explorer so there was nothing to delete
using crouchie.. In Fact with internet explorer I entered google in the
MSN
address bar and and clicked on the green web search bar and went to the
site
and then returned to the internet explorer home page and again in the MSN
address bar entered google. There was no drop down list that came up.I had
expected a scroll down list showing that I had just gone to google but
there
was nothing. If I had done this on MSN explorer (the butterfly) it would
have
been added to the ever present scroll down list of addresses. It does
appear
that I am stuck with these addresses on MSN explorer.Another item that I
noted on the addresses that scroll down in MSN explorer is that if I start
typing in an address which say starts with the letter "B", immediately the
scroll down lists all sites that I have been to that starts with the
letter
"B". This occurs with any address that starts with a first letter i.e. "F'
or
"K" etc the scroll down immediately lists all addresses that start with
the
fiirst letter of the address that I am going to search for.

You won't likely find version 1.1.4322. Just version 1.1 (which is the
same,
they just rounded it off. ) And the easiest way to get the Frameworks is
from Windows Update, Custom option.

Hi Gary
Thanks for your response. I guess that you are correct. Seldom do I use
internet explorer however when I went to it ,it was as you say. In the
top
right corner is the "web search" box. Below on the same page as I have
with
MSN explorer is the address bar where you enter the wesite you want to
go
to
and to the right you click on the green search box. I entered google in
the
MSN address bar to see what happened without clicking on search. There
was
no
scroll down of previous address that I had , however they still come up
when
I go back to the butterfly and bring up the MSN page and enter an
address
in
the address bar.

Re the .net framework I will do as you suggest and find version
1.1.4322
and
try to get it installed.

Again, you are using Internet Explorer. Take my word for it. MSN's
browser
is Internet Explorer. What does it say in the title bar when the
browser
is
open? I'll bet that if you open Internet Explorer, it will take you to
the
same page and look almost exactly the same (menus, etc.), though it
might
say something different in the title bar.

Hi Gary

I click on the butterfly on my desktop or on the start menu to go
online
and
it brings up the MSN home page. If I want to go to internet explorer
which
I
do not use I click on it in the start menu but as I said I do not
use
it.

If you don't use Internet Explorer, what browser do you use? MSN is
not a
browser. If your browser is labeled MSN (not just the home page)
then
you
have an MSN branded version of IE.

Hi Daave

I went to the ccleaner website however it appears that it will
clean
URL's
that are on internet explorer search. Since I do not use internt
explorer
I
don't have the URL problem. I use MSN search exclusively and this
is
where
the URL's are piling up. Will the ccleaner remove the MSN search
URL's
also
or just the internet explorer search URL's. Presently I do not
have
any
on
internet explorer since I do not use it.

Thank you for your assistance and look foreward to your response.

I use MSN rather than internet explorer.

MSN Explorer is basically a shell around the Internet Explorer
broswer.

When I enter an address i.e.
google in the address bar and then click on the green "search
web" I
can go to the site without problem. The problem I have is that
when
you enter an address in the address bar a scroll down list
comes
up
under the address bar listing all the sites that I have been
to
so
that you can select one of the listings if you are going to
use
it
again. I have tried to delete this listing without success. I
have
gone to view history and clicked on view and selected all
items
listed but still cannot remove the address listing under the
address
bar. Any help would be appreciated. I contacted MSN and they
had
me
try several things including the history thing and they could
not
solve the problem either. I have about 30 sites in this list
and
want
to delete them all.

Ccleaner is the easiset way to clear that up:

http://www.ccleaner.com

When you install it, (unless you *want* it installed) don't
check
the
box to install the Yahoo toolbar.
