you claim to have been a "MS MVP" for ten years,

No claim about it John--it is a matter of record. If you use google.com,
you can see my first post as an MVP was made on 1 Jul 97 in a W95 newsgroup.

you still are top posting multiple messages, once again making
it difficult to follow, for the "Lurkers".

It is you bottom posters that make things difficult in my view but I don't
complain about it nor chastise people for bottom posting. Top posting is
only difficult if that's the way you make it. When I read a thread, I do
not start in middle--I start with the original post. Then, if the next
poster is a top poster, I immediately see what that person has to say
instead of having to scroll down to read the post. What's so difficult
about that? As a matter of interest (or maybe not), I started out as a
bottom poster and at some point in time I saw that I did not like following
somebody else's stupid rule so I changed.

Aside from that your "advice" is confusing and actually did
not answer the OP's question. You answered some other
question.

Confusing to whom--you? The rest of your statement is incorrect.

You wrote advising that the OP should either install some
Google pack bloatware or give over credit card for the
Real Player Spam / pressure sales service., and Oh yes
if he remember in time, aad go through a whole
rigmarole, he can get some old cut down version of
the previous pay version free.

I did not advise him to install anything. I gave him complete information
on how to get what he wanted plus additional information on the deluxe
version. He did not list any qualifications except that it had to be free.
That qualification was met.

The other Top Posting so called MVP gave a link
to an archive of older versions of Real players,
which contained the warning...................

Off topic--does not apply to me. Looks to me like you have something
against MVPs.

Obviously the latest Version will be the Beta
of version 11 which is available free, and therefore
fills the criteria of the OP, without any other
bloatware.

You are unbelievable--recommending a BETA program that undoubtedly expires
and may be full of bugs and then having the nerve to criticize other
posters' recommendations. Outstanding, John--just outstanding !!!!!!

The OP then asked if you had tried this,

which obviosly completely baffled
the OP, considering his reply.

My answer could have been clearer: Nope--*I* don't use the product. But,
there really was no reason for confusion. If I did not want him to use the
product, why would I tell him where to get it? And, if I thought he should
not use it, I would have provided a well reasoned argument supporting my
position and not just said, "don't use the product."

which did not actually fit any of the
criteria requested, by the OP,

The etiquette must have been written by some brain dead person who decided
that his way was best. It was probably the same person who decided typing
in all CAPS is shouting rather than what it really is: hard to read. I
don't agree bottom posting is the best method nor will I ever comply with
it. If you want to be a follower of an idiotic "rule," that is your
prerogative.
