Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

Thank you for your reply

I've ticked the box many times...it still comes up

As I stated in my post, the program is a brand new, downloaded program from
Indiana University's online service that is totally current with current
definition files. (Symantec AntiVirus 10.1.6.6000 with scan engine
71.3.0.25) The previously installed program (last year's version of the
above) indicated that the files were up to date as well. I run XP Pro, and
it seems to me that it is a Windows issue because, again all files were up to
date...even with the 10.1.5 version.

I've gone to Symantec's site and there is nothing that addresses the issue

Jeff,

1) You have a box you can tick to say don't show this again
2) Has the subscription run out?
3) Contact Symantec Support
(http://www.symantec.com/home_homeoffice/support/index.jsp)
4) You can download the Intelligent Updater file
(http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/defs.download.html) instead of
using Live Update. Go to the above page, scroll down, choose your av version,
click the download button & then on the next page you will have the file
Example: 20070731-016-i32.exe
(http://definitions.symantec.com/defs/20070731-016-i32.exe)
5) On support I found this document, but you never told the newsgroup your exact
product you're using:
http://service1.symantec.com/Support/nav.nsf/docid/2001091312421306

The check box you need to tick in point 1 above is held in the registry. I don't
use home products so I cannot tell you exatly which key it is

A few days ago I started getting a window everytime I start or re-start. The
Window's top line is "Old Virus Definition File" with the text "The virus
definition file used is more than 30 days old....

I use one of Symantec's anti virus programs and the program WAS up to date
with the most current def file. I uninstalled the Symantec program and
installed the most current version of the program and updated all of the def
files.

I still get the window evertime I start/re-start.

Clicking the box to not remind me, turning off the Security Center Anti
Virus monitoring, etc does not eliminate this very annoying window.

Any ideas?
